TIMELINE

The Arise & Build Capital Campaign project is divided into a pre-construction design phase, three construction phases and a post-construction furnishing phase and is expected to take three to four years to complete.

The Arise & Build committee evaluated the project from all angles and concluded that before construction on the church sanctuary could begin – the most important part of the project – the altar must move to the Kourmolis Center. This move required an alternative space for fellowship and ministry activities normally held in the Kourmolis Center. The answer to this was to complete the Ministry Building (the former school building) and hold fellowship and events here.

Pre-Construction Design Phase

During this Phase, the committee worked closely with an architectural design firm to fully outline final design specifications for each Phase so that contractors have a full set of design plans upon which to base their bids. Initially the focus has been the Ministry Building, followed by the church and the Kourmolis Center. During this process the committee also consulted with other churches, an interior designer, stained glass window specialists, iconographers, mechanical, electrical and environmental engineers, and city and state permit expediters.

PHASE I

Spring 2026

Phase I kicks off by transforming the current school building into a Ministry Building which will house all church administrative offices, classrooms and a small fellowship hall. The Ministry Building will support our many ministries and fellowship activities while the Kourmolis Center is reserved for worship.

During this phase:

  • Permits obtained

  • Contractor engaged

  • Ministry Building renovation

  • Administration office relocation

  • Administration building demolition

  • Ground leveled for parking and outdoor elements

PHASE II

Summer 2026

Following the preparation of the alter in the Kourmolis Center, church services will be held in the Kourmolis Center for the duration of the church sanctuary’s construction. All other activities will occur in the Ministry Building.

During this phase:

  • Kourmolis Center prepared to serve as temporary church sanctuary

  • Church furnishings relocated into the Kourmolis Center

  • Church services held in the Kourmolis Center

  • Permits obtained

  • Church expansion commenced, and will include 180 new seats, a proper narthex with bathrooms, and improved wheelchair accessibility

PHASE III

Spring 2027

It’s time to return to our beautiful house of worship, ready to accommodate more people seeking the Light than ever before!

During this phase:

  • Once the original church sanctuary reopens, renovate the Kourmolis Center by remodeling the bathrooms and kitchen

  • Build a walkway between the church sanctuary and the Ministry Building

  • Create a new outdoor prayer garden

  • Enhance the grounds with new asphalt, landscaping and fencing

  • Update the small building located near the soccer field, with the goal of renting it to a local business

Post-Construction Furnishing Phase

After the construction and major renovations are complete, there will still be more to do. This is when we will address any interior furnishing needs that may not have been part of the contractor’s scope of work, or other interior needs that are identified as the work progresses. We also anticipate exterior property improvements that will arise will need attention as well. This is all a normal part of a large renovation project.

The goal is for the project to be finished by December 31, 2027.
