TIMELINE
The Arise & Build project has been carefully planned to allow our parish to continue worshipping and carrying out its ministries while construction is underway. The project is expected to take 3-4 years and is divided into four stages: a pre-construction design phase, three construction phases and a final furnishing phase.
The sequence of construction was developed after careful study by the Arise & Build Committee, our architects, and construction professionals. Because the church sanctuary is the centerpiece of the project, we determined that worship services should temporarily move to the Kourmolis Center while the sanctuary is expanded and renovated. To make this possible, the Ministry Building must be completed first so it can accommodate our offices, classrooms, fellowship, and ministry activities.
Pre-Construction Design Phase
Winter 2025 - Summer 2026
During this Phase, our committee worked closely with architects to prepare detailed construction documents, establish project budgets and obtain the professional expertise needed for bidding and permitting.
This work included collaboration with:
Architects and interior designers
Stained glass window specialists
Mechanical, electrical and environmental engineers
City and state permit consultants
Other churches that have completed similar projects
PHASE I
Ministry Building
Summer 2026 - Winter 2026
Construction begins with the renovation of the former school building into a dedicated Ministry Building. This facility will become the center for parish administration, education and fellowship throughout the remainder of the project and for decades to come.
Key milestones include:
Finalize permits and mobilize construction
Complete renovation of the Ministry Building
Relocate parish administrative offices
Demolish the existing administration building
Prepare the site for additional parking and outdoor improvements
Enhance audio in Kourmolis Center to prepare for future Liturgy in that space
PHASE II
Church Expansion
Winter 2026 - Winter 2027
Once the Ministry Building is operational, the Kourmolis Center will be transformed into a temporary sanctuary, allowing the main sanctuary expansion to begin. During this phase:
Liturgy is held in the Kourmolis Center
Church furnishings are carefully relocated
Church sanctuary expansion begins
Approximately 210 seats are added
A welcoming narthex with bathrooms and bride/cry room is constructed
Accessibility improved throughout the church, including enhanced wheelchair access
A covered outdoor pavilion with basketball court is built
PHASE III
Campus Renewal
Summer 2027- Summer 2028
With sanctuary construction complete, we will joyfully return to our expanded church while work continues on the remainder of the campus.
This phase includes:
Renovation of the Kourmolis Center kitchen and bathrooms
Construction of a covered walkway connecting the church and Ministry Building
Creation of a new outdoor prayer garden
New parking lot paving, landscaping and perimeter fencing
Post-Construction Furnishing Phase
Winter 2026 - Fall 2028
As with any major construction project, the Furnishing Phase focuses on completing the details that transform buildings into welcoming spaces.
This phase includes:
Interior furnishings and equipment not included in the construction contract
Final decorative and liturgical elements
Additional interior improvements identified during construction
Exterior enhancements and finishing touches as needed
Our prayer is to complete the entire Arise & Build project in Summer 2028, creating a campus that will serve our parish family and future generations for decades to come.
Iconography Phase
2028 and Beyond
Once the project is complete, we will have areas with bare walls that will need new iconography. The process to identify the icons we seek, obtain Metropolis approval, fundraise to cover the cost, select and commission an iconographer and complete the work will take time. Our goal is to complete this final phase as quickly as possible. Between now and 2028, communications regarding iconography, costs and naming opportunities will be shared with the parish.
